December Topic – Blogging Deep Dive

2009 December 1
by Jeff Moriarty

The December 10th topic for Social Media Club Phoenix is “Blogging Deep Dive”, taken from one of the user suggestions in our Uservoice forum. This talk assumes you already have a blog, and want to develop your skills and reach.  It will talk about the reasons and motivations for blogging. How to build a consistent voice on your blog?  Should you cover one topic or many? How do attract and retain new readers?  Do you cross-promote or advertise on your blog?

If you have specific topics you would like to cover, leave a comment here or on the Uservoice entry.  The panelists are listed below along with their blogs, so please check them out in advance so you can ask them about the choices they’ve made in creating them.

Social Media 101

And for you noobs, Evo Terra will be hosting Social Media 101 at 5:30 — sharp! This month Evo will share with you the 5 Best Social Media
Tools You’re Probably Not Using For Your Business. You’re already familiar with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, but there are plenty
more!

Because he only has about 45 minutes for the class plus a Q & A session, please be on time. The class will end at 6:15, giving everyone plenty of time to make it to the main SMCPHX meeting that starts promptly at 6:30.

Feel free to come to either or both talks, at the Jobing.com offices!

  • My mistake, Jeff. Someone has been feeding me poor intel.

Matthew is a more than capable choice.

Actually Matthew Petro will be taking your place on the panel, Tyler. I think Derek may have been nervous about stepping into the Tyler Chair, but word is Matthew's been studying Tyler-Chi and should be ready to confront with flair.
  • Props to my replacement, Derek Neighbors. I've already started training him to be confrontational, so expect him to be frothing.

We are looking for someone to help us stream and record the sessions. The past few have been great and we would like to capture them for people to view offline.

If anyone is willing to help us out with that, we'd really appreciate it!
  • Will anybody be recording this session? Unfortunately have a conflict. @chrislee
